Where are you from?
I grew up in North Jefferson County.
Tell about your family (spouse, kids, etc.)
I have been married to my best friend, Christy, for 26 years. We have two sons, Nicholas and JJ, and one daughter, Payton.
How did you end up at Smoke Rise Baptist Church?
A little over ten years ago, we were invited to Smoke Rise by a family friend. I was amazed at how friendly and welcoming everyone was. I gave my life to Christ about a year later and truly began following Him, and He has changed my world. I have been on three mission trips, one to Panama and two to Africa. God called me to become a deacon and then, about five years ago, to become an elder.
What is your favorite thing about Smoke Rise Baptist Church?
My favorite thing about our church continues to be the people. They are genuine; they really love each other and are concerned with sharing the Good News with the lost.
Where did you go to school? What is your educational background?
I graduated high school from Mortimer Jordan in 1994. I am currently pursuing my bachelor's degree in both criminal justice and religion at Liberty University.
Talk a little bit about your favorite bible verse.
My favorite verse in Scripture is Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”This is my favorite verse because it shows that while we were in the depths of sin, despair, and death, He came to us and offered salvation. There is nothing that we can do to earn God’s love and grace. It is a free gift given to the repentant heart.
We love to camp, hike, fish, and work in our garden whenever we can.
